Virus Season: How to Stay Healthy and Support Your Body

Friends, it seems like everyone around is catching something these days. A sore throat here, a lingering runny nose there, or a cough that just won’t go away. And sometimes, just when you think you're better, another wave of symptoms hits. Sound familiar? It’s exhausting, isn’t it?

I often hear you ask, “Why is this happening? Why is it taking so long to recover?” Let’s take a closer look at why so many of us are dealing with these persistent viruses and what we can do to help our bodies heal.


Why Are We Getting Sick for So Long?

First of all, our immune systems are often weaker these days. Stress, lack of proper nutrition, little rest — all of these things push our bodies to their limits, making it harder to fight off infections.

Secondly, modern viruses have become trickier than before. They mutate, adapt, and "hide," making it harder for our immune systems to fight them off in the early stages.

And, of course, sometimes we make things harder for ourselves. For example, using antibiotics when they aren’t needed or ignoring early symptoms, pushing through our busy schedules instead of giving ourselves the rest we need.


What Can You Do Right Now?

  1. Listen to your body. If you feel tired or notice the first signs of illness, take a break. Rest is crucial.

  2. Eat mindfully. Cut out sugar and dairy, at least during illness—they add extra stress to your body. Instead, include more vegetables, greens, and warm drinks like ginger tea or rosehip infusions.

  3. Support yourself naturally. This is where gemmotherapy comes in, a method I deeply trust and love. Buds of plants contain the most concentrated and potent energy for recovery. For example, black currant is fantastic for immunity, dog rose helps the body fight viruses, and alder works well if inflammation has already set in.
