Homeopathy and Gemmotherapy: Supporting the Respiratory System when coughing

Homeopathy and Gemmotherapy: Supporting the Respiratory System when coughing

Homeopathy:

  • Sulphur 30C – Perfect for persistent, dry cough with a sensation of chest irritation. This classic homeopathic remedy supports the lungs and reduces inflammation.
  • Kali bichromicum 30C – Essential for coughs with thick, sticky mucus that is hard to clear.
There are much more remedies for cough in homeopathy. It is always better to have homeopath for consulting. Though the situation is much simpler with Gemmotherapy.

Gemmotherapy:

  • Lithy – Great for asthma-like coughs or when breathing feels restricted, providing bronchial support.
  • Hazel – Helps restore lung elasticity, especially after pneumonia or severe respiratory illness.
  • Hornbeam – A lifesaver for lingering, chesty coughs that come in fits.
  • Sweet Chestnut – Supports the lymphatic system and is invaluable during the later stages of illness when cough persists and congestion develops.

👉 Use these gemmo extracts in microdoses — 1-2 drops frequently throughout the day.

2. Keep Your Body Warm: Warming and Inhalation Techniques

1. Keep your chest warm.
Heat relieves spasms and improves circulation in the lungs. If you feel congestion or tightness, apply a hot water bottle to the chest (always with a cloth layer to avoid burns).

2. Warm feet are key to faster recovery.
Before bed, sprinkle a little mustard powder into your socks. This old-school method warms your feet, boosts circulation, and stimulates the immune response.

3. Steam inhalations:

  • Boil potatoes (you can add sea salt) and inhale the steam for 15–20 minutes.
  • Chamomile, thyme, or eucalyptus are excellent for inhalations, helping to soothe inflammation and clear airways.

3. Nutrition Adjustment: Eliminate Mucus-Producing Foods

What to avoid:

  • Dairy products. They promote mucus production, which can worsen the cough.
  • Sugar. It suppresses the immune system and fuels inflammation.
  • Gluten. In many cases, it exacerbates inflammation.

What to add:

  • Warm soups and broths. Light, warm meals help the body restore its energy.
  • Steamed vegetables and warm drinks. Tea with honey or agave syrup, ginger, and lemon supports immunity and reduces inflammation.
